Q - What is the best thickness to use? 

A - Depends on numerous factors, if you are on a budget 2mm will work and offer you what you need in terms of aesthetics and installation. Polycarbonate is a little more expensive than acrylic but 2mm Polycarbonate will be unbreakable and look good aestetically.
