Uses for hygienic wall cladding

Versatility is one of the primary benefits of hygienic wall cladding, as it can be deployed in a multitude of projects, situations, and workplaces.

Kitchens

When searching for a material to utilise in spaces where food is prepared, hygienic wall cladding excels. Being quick and simple to clean, our cladding makes maintaining high levels of food hygiene easy, enabling your kitchen space to be kept to a peak level of hygiene effortlessly.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms, washrooms and showers have been a continuing cause of headaches for those looking to create or renovate a space to high health standards.

Due to the presence of moisture, bacteria and heat, these spaces can often be prone to buildups of damp, germs, mould and structural damage. Traditional solutions for cladding that utilise panelling and grout are particularly prone to these issues, as the grout can often bear the brunt of this damage.

Hygienic wall cladding eliminates these issues by providing an easily installed, cleaned and maintained solution. Being free from grouting, hygienic wall cladding is highly resistant to damp and moisture, presenting a more robust bathroom solution for long-term use. Moreover, it is also highly resistant to bacteria, with a surface that is easy to clean and keep free from germs, allowing you to create a space with high standards of hygiene.

Supermarkets

Areas with high levels of foot traffic from a variety of people can prove particularly difficult to maintain, as the stresses that high foot traffic creates typically cause long-term wear. This threat is enhanced within supermarkets, in which the presence of food creates the need for a material that can maintain good hygiene standards, whilst also being robust enough to withstand the strains of day-to-day use.

Hygienic wall cladding is the ideal solution to this problem, as it not only has a high level of durability and robustness, but is highly resistant to bacteria, meaning supermarkets can safely and proficiently serve customers on a daily basis.

Kennels

In kennels, not only are hygiene standards crucial, but ensuring the safety of the animals within the space is also of critical importance. Hygienic wall cladding presents a solution that maintains a good standard of health, whilst also being durable and robust, ensuring a high level of safety for the animals.

Installation Guide

The installation process for our Hygienic Wall Cladding is simple, and can be broken down into a few stages:

1. Gather tools

In terms of tools, we recommend gathering:

A tape measure
A spirit level
Jigsaw
A hacksaw
A rubber mallet
A mixing tool
4mm trowel
Applicator gun
Wipes
Adhesive
Silicones
Work space

2. Prepare surface for application

24 hours prior to installing your hygienic wall cladding, wipe down the surface upon which they are going to be attached with a mild PVA solution, in order to remove dust, dirt and other contaminants.

3. Setting the level and applying the trim

Determine where the bottom trim will sit in your project. Revolving upon the specific circumstances of your installation, the trim can sit on the floor (if covering a whole wall from top to bottom) or potentially on a worktop if only covering part of a wall. Ensure the target area for the trim is level by using the spirit level, cut the trim to size, then apply it to the edges of the target area with the single-part adhesive. Push the trims gently with your hand to ensure they are flush to the wall.

Ensure it is left for as long as is stated on the adhesive, to guarantee that the trim is correctly secured in place.

4. Measuring the space and cutting materials

Measure the surface of the target area, ensuring to mark things such as sockets, pipes, and corners. Corners may require hygienic wall cladding sheets to be cut accordingly. Cut the sheets by using a flat worktop, using a jigsaw.

5. Preparing the adhesive

There are two types of adhesive for attaching Hygienic wall cladding to the target surface, two-part adhesive and cartridge adhesive. We recommend using two-part adhesive, as this is the best way to guarantee correct installation, however, cartridge adhesive can be used when a project needs to be completed quickly.

When preparing the two-part adhesive, take parts A and B and mix them together, preferably using a motorised drill with a mixing paddle attachment. Do this until the mixture is consistent throughout.

6. Applying the adhesive

Apply the two-part adhesive across the non-filmed side of the cladding, whilst being sure to leave a 15 mm gap around the entire edge of the cladding.

Then attach the cladding to the target area and allow it to set in place.
